1. Introduction: Fiddle + Bow Collection recognises the importance of responsible waste management to minimise environmental impact and promote sustainability. This Waste Management Policy outlines our commitment to reducing, reusing, and recycling waste generated within our premises, encompassing the hotel, Russells Seafood Bar, and 32 self-catering houses.

2. Waste Segregation:

a. All employees are responsible for segregating waste at its source into designated bins for general waste, recyclables, and organic waste. 

b. Clear signage and color-coding will be used to distinguish different waste streams, aiding both staff and guests in proper waste disposal.

c. Black bin bags will be used to signify general waste. 

d. Clear bin bags will be used to signify recycling.

e. For hotel guests the bedrooms bins are for recycling and the bathroom bins are for general waste. 

 3. Recycling Initiatives:

a. Fiddle + Bow Collection has established a partnership with Clean Ireland. 

b. Recycling bins will be strategically placed throughout the premises, including bedrooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces. 

c. Regular training sessions for staff will emphasise the importance of recycling and educate them on the types of materials that can be recycled. To be provided by Clean Ireland yearly.

 4. Reduction of Single-Use Items: 

a. Fiddle + Bow Collection is committed to reducing the use of single-use plastics and other disposable items. 

b. Alternatives such as biodegradable or reusable options will be explored and implemented where feasible. 

- Refillable shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand soap, hand lotion

- Filter water in guest bedrooms that is refillable

- Use of recyclable packaging for all takeaway items

c. Guests will be encouraged to participate by providing information on the benefits of reducing single-use items in their rooms.

5. Food Waste Management: 

a. The kitchen staff will be trained to minimize food waste through careful planning, portion control, and proper storage practices. 

6. Collaboration with Guests: 

a. Guests will be informed of our waste management initiatives through informational materials, including guest directories (digital and physical), social media and signage. 

b. Suggestions for reducing waste during their stay, such as towel reuse programs and waste reduction tips, will be communicated to guests through the guest directory.

7. Continuous Improvement: 

a. Regular waste audits will be conducted to assess the effectiveness of our waste management program. 

b. Feedback from staff and guests will be actively sought and used to identify areas for improvement.

8. Compliance:

a. Fiddle + Bow Collection will comply with all relevant waste management regulations and seek to exceed these standards whenever possible. 

b. Periodic reviews of this policy will be conducted to ensure its relevance and effectiveness.
